2016 Audi Q3 Information

is fresh on the U. S. market for 2015, but it has been on sale in Europe for several years. That's why it's already receiving a midcycle face lift, one which is likely to be on display in the metal at the Detroit auto show in January. Visually, the new model offers a more daring interpretation of Audi's single-frame grille, with the upper border connecting the headlights. It reminds us a lot of the, but the execution is less boxy and more refined. The standard halogen headlamps are dumped in the refresh, making way for xenon HIDs (which already were standard in the U. S. ) or optional full-LED units. The taillights have been restyled, as well. Inside, Audi serves up new materials and upgraded infotainment. Under its face-lifted skin, the Q3 is a pre-
vehicle, but that doesn't make it totally outdated. More than other cars based on the venerable PQ35 and PQ46 platforms, it makes use of weight-saving materials like aluminum and high-strength steel. The Q3's front strut and multilink rear suspension setups deliver relatively agile handling, and the car is fitted with a stability-control system that has provisions for off-roading. Wheel sizes on European-market models range from 16 to 20 inches. The engine choices for the 2016 model-year U. S. version aren t confirmed, but it s entirely possible that we ll again make do with the 2. 0-liter turbocharged TFSI four-cylinder with 200 horsepower.

The updated Q3 should again be sold here with both front- and Quattro all-wheel drive. The U. S. -market Q3 currently gets a six-speed automatic, but there s still the chance that it could get a six-speed dual-clutch automatic like Euro Q3s. In Europe, the Q3 is available with a large number of powertrain choices: There is a 1. 4-liter TFSI that makes 150 horsepower and a 2. 0-liter TFSI in 180- and 220-hp strengths. Audi also offers a 2. 0-liter turbo-diesel rated at 120, 150, or 184 horsepower. Our favorite Q3, of course, is with a 340-hp, 2. 5-liter inline-five; it won't be offered in the U. S. , not least because it would shame. If we had one wish for the Q3, it s that Audi would sell us the Pontiac Aztek like, Bucky Ball looking accessory camping tent that is available in Europe for about $1750. "The vehicle interior/luggage compartment and the tent can be used simultaneously. This makes unpleasant activities such as loading and unloading during bad weather significantly more pleasant," promises Audi. Moreover, "the tent is modular, comprising the main tent, a mosquito-proof inner tent, tent floor, sun shade, and a car-specific connection kit for the tailgate. " Hobo livin in a four-ringed vehicle has never been so good. As does the current model, the face-lifted Q3 will compete with, and. Prices should begin at about $35,000. by Guy Yowell Dec 25, 2015 Vehicle: 2016 Audi Q3 Prestige quattro 4dr SUV AWD (2. 0L 4cyl Turbo 6A) I recently took my wife's 2011 Q5 in for routine service, and the dealer gave me the Q3 as a loaner car.

I was very impressed with the ride versus my 2011 A3 TDI. So when I went back to pick up my wife's car, I decided to sit down with a salesperson to discuss the possibility of trading in my A3. The deals they were offering were excellent, and I just wasn't willing to wait to see how Audi was going to resolve the emission issue affecting the 2. 0 TDI engines. So far, I'm extremely happy with my decision. The Q3 with Prestige and Sport Packages is a real step up from my 2011 A3 TDI. The ride is extremely comfortable and the cabin is incredibly quiet. Incidentally, on previous occasions, I also had the opportunity to drive the 2015 A3 Sedan for an extended period as a loaner car, and the Q3 feels a lot nicer to drive. The handling with the 19 tires included with the Sport Package is really impressive. It doesn't handle like an SUV at all. The car accelerates very evenly and the transmission shifts very smoothly. The exterior and all of the interior finishes are just beautiful! The Bose Audio system included with the Prestige Package sounds great, and I love how seamlessly my iPhone connects (via Bluetooth) to play all of my audio files. My only disappointment is the relatively poor fuel economy for an SUV in this class. In fact, the fuel economy is essentially the same as my wife's Q5 which is significantly larger and heavier.

It's especially painful because I was averaging nearly 42 miles/gallon with my A3 TDI. However, it's unclear whether or not these fuel economy figures would have been impacted by whatever solution Audi/Volkswagen comes up with to meet the emission requirements. For me, it's the perfect compromise of size, comfort, quality, and luxury. I also considered the BMW X1 and the Mercedes GLA, but these two alternatives were significantly more expensive when comparably equipped. The Q3 is really an excellent value and I'm looking forward to years of driving this exceptional vehicle. by Guy Yowell Dec 25, 2015 Vehicle: 2016 Audi Q3 Prestige quattro 4dr SUV AWD (2. 0L 4cyl Turbo 6A) I recently took my wife's 2011 Q5 in for routine service, and the dealer gave me the Q3 as a loaner car.
